Lance Winters was born to the Infinite Family, some of which were famous circus performers. After stealing thousands from the circus he was imprisoned for 5 years.

Lance escaped from prison when he learned that Ray Daily News was planning to raise $1,000,000 at a charity event, which he planned to steal after donning the name Googol. However, Doctor Stratos had done the same thing. At first competing for the money, they decided to join forces when they were pursued by The Guardian and Scythe. The pair successfully made their getaway, but were later captured when the two heroes lured them into a trap by claiming that a recently discovered diamond was in display at the museum. He was brought to Wrath with a plethora of other villains, only to trick the demon into being defeated by Solorian super-heroes.

Googol was present at Starr Technologies, where Scythe was killed. Although he had not actively taken part in the murder, he knew that he would be considered just as guilty. He reluctantly went to Scythe's funeral. However, after a speech by Agent Nine stressing the importance of capturing the League, he fled and decided and go their separate ways.

Ultimately Googol was arrested. However, the he escaped and made his way to Soloris City once more. From there they were offered a place of rest by Gear. After realizing it was a trap, Googol escaped again, only to be tracked by The Guardian and Archangel. Googol immediately pleaded with the two heroes that he personally was not responsible for the death of Harry Getre. Archangel quickly refuse to believe their innocence and concerns in bringing them to justice. The Guardian however, hears their story at which point Googol used number representation of himself and Scythe to illustrate his innocence. Archangel became furious at the disrespect that Googol shows, and punched him down. The Guardian however, believes their story, stating that he is 'too stupid to kill a mutant' and lets them go.
